I have been trying to figure out how to reintroduce myself back into the world as a woman, brand, and professional. So, I thought, maybe I can visit my original roots of expression–writing. Here is my story.

A scripture that comes to mind, which matches the assignment of the house I currently reside in, is Romans 8:18, which says, I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” This scripture was given to me many years ago before this transformative season began, but I didn’t understand it, nor was I prepared to understand what exactly would be “revealed” after the suffering. I at first saw it as trauma wounds for testimonies. While that serves its place, I saw that there was so much more. I saw that even in the midst of the suffering, glory was revealed in my life and the life of others. Glory included redemption, transformation, reconciliation, resilience, connection, grace, correction, forgiveness, wisdom, prosperity, and joy. I now see that everything that happened wasn’t in vain, but a reminder that our sufferings will never be heavier than God’s glory. So, I pray this lands as a testimony of God’s Glory through the sufferings, and not just a gloating moment. I am just excited in how much glory He brought to my life.

My Family–I guess I will start with everyone’s favorite thing–I recently got married. I am now Dr. April B. Lindsey (on paper). As I am writing this, we are now about three months into marriage. We had probably the most perfect wedding anyone could ask for, especially considering the several angels and missing family members. We also had an incredible honeymoon in San Diego. It mostly consisted of resting, taking naps on the beach, and eating daily funnel cakes. We truly took a moment to rest and connect. This was well needed, as we returned to a host of chaotic events.

Very long story short, Tracy had two surgeries about a week apart, I started a new position, and we were clarified that we would be moving before the end of the year. I also became a step mom, which has a host of responsibilities, added relationships, and circumstances to navigate that are not yours to solve, but yours to be impacted by. In this very short time, we have been quickly challenged to build our foundation of moving as a unit, or everything will fall through the cracks. The tests came intensely, but we remain equipped through prayer, therapy, intimacy, and connection.

As far as our health journey, Tracy is on the kidney transplant list (Glory to God), and is continuing to navigate upkeep his health. We are restructuring our groove in working out and overall health practices in our own special ways. My mental health is improving significantly, yet the current life changes sometimes threaten that. Nonetheless, I have identified the tools that keep me pressing forward in the thick of things. Things that bring our entire family joy is playing Netflix Games, going to the park, playing with our two doggies, having a movie night, trying a new restaurant, playing sports together, or just telling silly stories and laughing until we fall off the bed. The very beautiful gift that God has given our Lindsey unit is that no matter how many lemons we get, we always have pitchers of lemonade.

My Brand–In the wellness world, my professional brand is Dr. April Bee. In 2026 so far, I have been doing most of my work behind the scenes to continue to build my craft, competency, and community. I have been teaching Pilates, and I would have never imagined how much I loved it. I still teach yoga, and I also conduct personal training. I am excited to host more pop-up classes in different communities, as well as expand the opportunity to teach in different places.

I have also hosted a few community workshops, which I am excited to release more of soon, and I have expanded my education in functional health. With this, I’ve had the privilege to host a couple of corporate wellness events, specifically a few with Smoothie King, and I led a flow for caregivers. I am gratefully still keynote speaking for events, conferences, summits, and cohorts. I’m taking a very naturally-matriculating route of gaining clients as I reacclimate back into this workflow, so I am truly grateful for God turning people’s hearts towards investing in my work.

Currently, I am working on a pretty extensive revamp of my wellness brand and business behind the scenes that is set to launch officially in July of 2027, but several opportunities to become involved beforehand will be available in the meantime. I have learned a lot over the several years of being an entrepreneur, as well as made lots of mistakes. Starting over always seemed like a failure to me, but as I matured, I realized that things are only embarrassing if you decide for them to be. It was more displeasing to try and make something work in pride of sustaining what I created, versus transitioning to what is most effective so that I can obtain my goals and experience more personal ease. Moral of the story: your L’s are your greatest W’s, if you decide for them to be.

As I mentioned beforehand, I am also writing a book. I have taken this crazy journey to dive into Romance books as I was leading up to our wedding (it will become obvious why in my book). I used to hate romance novels because they rarely depicted the essence of relationship dynamics without trauma or drama. Since people love indulging in both, that is what commonly sells. Additionally, it depicts perfection as the greatest experience of love, and for someone seeking out realistic relationships, they may walk in with skewed expectations. Nonetheless, some books stuck with me and I recognized there was a world that was missing in both Romance and Christian Fiction–each other! So, please pray with me as I write a best selling novel that brings to life the story of a demographic of people who need a fictional story that brings voice to their silenced experiences.

My New Job–It still feels insane to see how this job came together for me. Being the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Institutional Research has been the job that I have played in my mind while in so many other positions. I am a natural strategist, so I am always thinking about how the structure impacts the outcomes, which impact the people we seek to serve and the sustainability of the entity.

To know that I have the opportunity to do this work in a space of faith is an elevated privilege. My work in ministry has grown significantly, not from any act of my own, but God positioning me and pouring into me as He promised. I truly feel like a new woman in this position, and I thank God for everything that has happened up to this moment. I thank God for three years of being unemployed/underemployed. I thank God for the moments where my income was just $400/month. I thank God that He kept keeping me when tomorrow’s dollars seemed invisible. I thank God that I got hired and fired a month later from a job that was not in alignment in this season. I thank God that He did everything to equip me while I needed the space to heal and develop. This new job is truly a great blessing.

My Womanhood–This is easily the most vulnerable, yet transformative season that I have been in. I have learned so many lessons, and some are still ongoing. As a person, I have truly reflected on the places where I didn’t get it right. Although a lot of it was due to lack of emotional skillset, unwillingness/unequipped to address my own trauma responses, codependency, or a lack of empathy, I still recognize that the impact exists, despite the intentions. I also learned that confidence is a dense term, and a lot of seasons in my life highly affected how confidently I show up. I have now realized how to stop giving other people so much power in my life, and how giving that power destroys the opportunity to actually connect with them. I recognize now that I have a voice, but it doesn’t have to always be used for defensive purposes or proof of worth. It can just be my voice, speaking when needed while also not apologetic.

I learned that everyone isn’t unsafe, and that there are people who just won’t align. That means nothing less of them. In fact, it makes them more valuable to me because I now see them for all of who they are, and not just their deficits towards me. I recognized that people’s worth (including my own) isn’t based on how valuable they are for my life, but how valuable they are in general. Alignment doesn't equate to value. It can be correlated, but it is not always causation. I also learned that people deserve my genuine self. That doesn’t mean that I have to overexert to be accepted, but to celebrate the spaces where I am embraced and manage the spaces that I am not.

I learned that it is okay to give grace–to myself and others. It is okay to make mistakes. It is okay to learn lessons aloud, and start over. It is okay to redefine things that you were deeply passionate about before. It is okay to evolve and edit. It is okay to apologize, and it is okay to say that you were wrong. It is okay to acknowledge that even in situations where the other party did 90% of the things wrong, that you can own and transform your 10%, and you can even apologize for it. I learned that pride won’t protect me.

I thank God for this journey and season that He has brought me to, and through. I pray that God continues to order my steps throughout this next season, as I continue to find consistency in joy, peace, prosperity, and connection. If you are reading this sentence, then I thank you for walking through this journey with me with such commitment. You are truly the reason that I keep going. So much love to you, and here is to my next chapter!
